I have worked as a graphic designer, graphic artist, and graphic design instructor internationally for more than 10 years.

Being able to synthesize graphic design, cultural identity & education and create high quality results (both strategic and aesthetic) is what I have strived to achieve in my career.

VISUAL IDENTITY

I have designed many visual identities for a variety of clients: commercial, artistic and educational in many locations throughout my career. This website contains a selection of work which I believe best exemplifies my approach toward visual identity; effectively communicate through the development of unique and memorable graphic language.

Visual identity components which I have developed include logos, print and online communication materials, graphic identity standards, motion graphics, book (print and digital) design and exhibition graphics. I have learned and used whatever software & production methods necessary to complete a given project.

DESIGN & EDUCATION

I strongly believe that it is both essential and a privilege to educate. Therefore, parallel to my professional practice, I have also taught graphic design in the US, Europe and the Middle East. I have taught at all levels to high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, and more recently elementary school children.

GRAFIK DASEIN PHILOSOPHY

Although graphic design continuously evolves, its basic definition does not change; Graphic design is the practice of designing graphic symbols which communicate information and messages to a defined user and/or audience.

Graphic design is the core of and is the essence of visual communication. This is why I have chosen to name my studio – with a linguistic and philosophical twist – after what I love, create and appreciate.

INSPIRATION

I have been guided by a variety of graphic designers and thinkers in my career as a designer and design educator. I have, whenever possible, directly and indirectly used their thoughts, works and texts to formulate my own design method.

But if I am to name one designer/thinker that could best sum up my perspective, I would have to name Saul Bass. In his career as a film title designer, Saul Bass said “to create an effective design is to look at an ordinary thing and present it in a new way.”

INSPIRATION

I have been guided by a variety of graphic designers and thinkers in my career as a designer and design educator. There are too many to name in this short text, but all have inspired me to understand different forms of beauty, logic or structures, methodologies, and meanings, which invariably have impacted my approach to design. I have, whenever possible, directly and indirectly used their thoughts and texts to formulate design methods.
