Poetic Hardware

Participated in the inaugural 'Poetic Hardware' 10-week online course.

"Using a custom electronics learning kit, selected participants learned about analogue and digital electronics, micro-controllers, sensors and mechanisms through practical exercises and thoughtful exploration."

Course outcomes led me to develop three interactive electronic projects which combined, graphic design, light, time and sound.

 

​​The Poetic Hardware course is developed and taught by CW&T (Che-Wei Wang + Taylor Levy), Tiri Kananuruk and Sebastian Morales. The course was sponsored by the School for Poetic Computation; an artist-run school in New York that was founded in 2013.

Project 1: Communication Circuit

A Graphic Interface, Model E/D

 

This electronic model—an interactive educational physical diagram—is meant to demonstrate one way in which human communication operates. It is based on the Emmert/Donaghy model of communication.

 

This project was adapted from Philip Emmert and William Donaghy,  Human Communication: Elements and Contexts, 1981 and Meredith Davis, Graphic Design Theory, Thames & Hudson, 2012
